Terms
1. Who we are
shadows is run by a pseudonymous operator, not a company. Seller: shadows (pseudonymous operator).
2. The service
shadows gives you AI chat models that run inside hardware enclaves (trusted execution environments) through RedPill. You can use it in this app, through a free trial, or through an OpenAI-compatible API with your own key.
3. Your account is your wallet
You sign in by signing a message with a crypto wallet. Whoever controls the wallet controls the account, its credits and its saved chats. We can't recover a lost wallet, its credits or its chats.
4. Credits
- Credits are prepaid units for using shadows, and can be used only for shadows. 1 USDG buys 100 credits.
- Each answer costs what it uses. The price of every model is shown in the app before you use it. A price change applies only to later use.
- Credits don't expire. They can't be transferred, sold, or turned back into money, except for the refund in section 6.
5. Paying
- You pay in USDG on Robinhood Chain, from the wallet you signed in with. You pay the network fee.
- Before each payment you confirm your country and make the request in section 6. Payments from another wallet, without that request, or above the limit per 30 days are held until they're reviewed.
- We screen paying wallets against sanctions lists. Payments from listed wallets are not credited.
- After each payment you get a confirmation you can download.
6. Right of withdrawal and refunds
As a consumer you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase. When you top up, you ask us to make your credits available right away, and you accept that you lose the right of withdrawal for credit you use.
For credit you haven't used, you can ask for a refund in the app (Account → Refund) within 14 days of the payment. We pay it back in USDG, only to the wallet that paid, usually within a few days.
7. Acceptable use
- Use shadows lawfully. You're responsible for what you ask and for what you do with the answers.
- These are always blocked, for everyone: sexual content involving minors; sexual or degrading content depicting a real, identifiable person; and meaningful help creating chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons.
- Adult content is only for adults who turn it on in Account, and only on models whose licence allows it.
- We may suspend an account used to break these rules or the law.
8. Answers
AI answers can be wrong, incomplete or offensive. Don't rely on them for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions without checking them.
9. Privacy
We never store your prompts or answers. Saved chats are encrypted on your device with a key only your wallet can create. The details are in the privacy notice.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep shadows running but can't promise it will always be available. Models may be added, changed or removed. If these terms change, you'll see the new version before your next top-up.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.
12. Law and disputes
Norwegian law applies. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in. Contact us first if something goes wrong. Consumers in Norway can also ask Forbrukertilsynet or Forbrukerrådet for help.
